What is giving an offering all about? Where do my gifts go?
Simply put, it begins with you. You give yourself first to God (2 Cor. 8:5). Next, out of gratitude and obedience to God for what He has done for you, you commit to give back to Him, through your church, Ashley River Baptist Church (ARBC), a portion of what He provides. This is commonly called a tithe and represents ten percent of your income (Lev. 27:30, Mal. 3:10).

Ashley River Baptist Church (the members) decide the next step. Every year members prayerfully decide how much will be budgeted for the support of the ministries here at Ashley River, reaching people in South Carolina and also around the world.

Then, above and beyond your tithe/offering to ARBC, there is always an opportunity for you to give to our special offerings that direct funds to specific Southern Baptist Convention cooperative mission causes.  Also, you can give personally to an approved designated fund or a mission/ministry through the "Pray. Give. Go." offerings.

Every resource we have is a blessing from God.  Giving is a spiritual discipline taught in scripture to demonstrate our gratefulness and to support His Kingdom work through His Church. Giving is for every believer in Jesus Christ.  Parents are encouraged to teach every Christian family member to give, using the tithe (10% of one's income) as the model.

1  And now, brothers, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. 2  Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity.  3  For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, 4  they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints. 5  And they did not do as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us in keeping with God's will. 6  So we urged Titus, since he had earlier made a beginning, to bring also to completion this act of grace on your part.  7  But just as you excel in everything--in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us--see that you also excel in this grace of giving. 2 Corinthians 8:1-7 (NIV)
