Congregational Meeting on August 17, 2008 Actions Included: Electing Syble McInvaille to a three year term on the Nominating Committee; electing church members to various leadership, committee and Sunday School positions for the new church year.
Congregational Meeting on June 15, 2008 Actions Included: (A quorum was not obtained for this meeting; therefore, actions by the church reflected only the unanimous affirmation of those members who were present.)
Deacon proposal that our church offer our site and facilities in cooperation with the SC Baptist Convention’s Disaster Relief Planning Department for the purpose of providing relief during a hurricane or similar disaster. (Future agreements or understandings will be subject to church approval in conference.)
Nominating Committee presented Vacation Bible School faculty and workers for 2008.
Congregational Meeting on April 27, 2008 Actions Included:
Election of church members to places of leadership.
Congregational Meeting on March 30, 2008 Actions Included:
Approval of Properties Committee requests for $4,415.88 to improve the front sanctuary landscaping and approval of $6,519.00 for flooring of the foyer between Fellowship Hall and the main Sanctuary. Both projects are expected to be completed in time for the church’s 65th Anniversary Celebration.
Several church members were elected to committees and church leadership positions.
Congregational Meeting on February 17, 2008 Actions Included:
Church affirmed the selection of Dr. Ruth Jenkins as Congregational Leader for the Franklin Graham Lowcountry Festival.
Church voted to allow a one year term extension for the 2007 Finance Committee Chairman, Dr. Ralph Roles, to provide chairmanship training to new members.
Church elected Ralph Swindal as Church Treasurer and elected Bill Springs to serve as Assistant Chairman. (Bill has expressed a desire to reduce his activity in this financial ministry after some 33 years as Church Treasurer.) Thanks for your faithful service, Bill.
Church elected members to various committee positions.
Congregational Meeting on January 20, 2008 Actions Included:
Formed an Ad-Hoc Committee to plan the Church's 65th Anniversary Celebration on April 18, 2008. The committee members are: Deanna Bentley, Tony Davis, Charles Elmore, Gloria Fennell, Betty Hood, Joyce McCaskill, Syble McInvaille, Dorothy Moore, Wilton Richardson, Adela Tetrick, Treva Towne and Susan Vinson.
Congregational Meeting on November 25, 2007 Actions Included:
Approval of project to repair, remodel, and redecorate the restrooms in the Fellowship Hall.
Election of various members to committees and places of leadership.
Congregational Meeting on September 21, 2007 Actions Included:
Approved a motion to present for adoption the proposed ministry support goals for 2008 at the worship services (8:30 and 11:00am) on Sunday, October 28, 2007.
Approved a Properties Committee recommendation to install a new wood-like laminate floor in the main Sanctuary narthex for a cost not to exceed $5,800.00.
Properties Committee was allowed to withdraw it’s recommendation to remodel dressing areas of the Baptistry. (This work will be done in-house.)
A first reading recommendation from the Properties Committee was presented to repair, remodel, and redecorate the restrooms in the Fellowship Hall. Projected cost is $5,500.00 and will be considered during the November congregational meeting.
Elected various church members to church committee vacancies.
Elected Rev. Dave Patterson and Jenny Patterson along with Jesse Powers to be ARBC messengers to the State Baptist Convention to be held in Florence, SC on November 13-14, 2007.
Congregational Meeting on September 16 Actions Included:
Approval of $6500 for the repair and painting of all windows in the church administration building.
Voted approval for the church to be a sponsor for the Franklin Graham Crusade to be held in Charleston, September 2008.
Elected Blanche Beach, Nan Busby, Annette Cottingham, Rupert (Rack) Cottingham, Pastor Dave Patterson, and Pastor Ron Shearer to be ARBC Messengers to the Charleston Baptist Association’s annual meeting, October 23 at Fort Johnson Baptist Church.
Received two “first reading” recommendations from the Properties Committee: replacement of the flooring in the church narthex for $5800, installation of solid partitions in the Baptistry Dressing Rooms for $5700.
Congregational Meeting on August 26 Actions Included:
Church gave its approval and blessing to the establishment of a Women’s Ministry to be known as “Women Building Bridges.” This ministry will be coordinated by a Women’s Ministry Advisory Team in cooperation with the WMU. The following women were elected to serve on the advisory team: Director: Jenny Patterson WMU Director: Jodell Johnson Members: Lib Godfrey, Theresa Moody, Yvonne Welch, Lynn Chamberlain, Jennifer Shearer, Cathy Richardson, Doris Dyches and Tonya Crawford.
Church approved a motion to change the Sunday morning time schedule in order to give more time to the Sunday School hour and allow additional time for the eXalt service. The new time schedule, contingent on working out schedule adjustments for support staff, children’s workers, and extended session workers will be: 8:30-9:30am eXalt Service 9:30-9:45am Transition 9:45-10:45am Sunday School/Bible Study 10:45-11:00am Transition 11:00am-12:00noon Celebration Service
Adequate notice will be given in the church publications prior to the implementation of the new schedule.
Approved a $13,000 recommendation from the Properties Committee to pressure wash, caulk and paint the exterior surfaces of the main sanctuary.
Granted a 30 day postponement to a Properties Committee request to give further consideration and review to their proposal to replace all the windows in the Administration Building at a projected cost of $62,256.00.
Two projected agenda items from the Properties Committee will be presented at the September Congregational Meeting, and they include: 1. An ongoing maintenance and repair schedule for Church Properties; 2. A painting/touch-up paint schedule for the CDC.
Church elected church leaders, Sunday School faculty, organizational leaders, assistants and workers for the new church year.
Church received a comprehensive report of activities from the Disaster Relief Ministry.
